Spanish Carnaval - Six Cultural Writing, Speaking and Listening Activities

This 3-4 hour lesson on Carnaval makes this exciting and important cultural event into an accessible and fun learning opportunity for students.

-articulate the timeline and schedule of annual Carnaval celebrations
-compare and contrast Carnaval celebrations in various Spanish-speaking countries
-describe to others common facets of Carnaval celebrations, such as the Burial of the Sardine and crowing a Queen of Carnaval
-describe and even create the stunning costumes typical of Carnaval celebrations
-have discussions about social change and what changes they might make if they had the chance
